This project has been in the works for sometime now, and we couldn't be more excited to announce the Gallery at Atlas' upcoming exhibition, Hadza: The Roots of Equality, produced by Jon Cox, Katrin Redfern and Andrew Stern.
The show will run from Saturday, March 25th, 2017 through Sunday, April 23rd, 2017 in the Gallery. An opening reception will be held in conjunction with Newburgh's Last Saturday events on March 25h, from 6:30 to 8:30pm.
Through photography, an immersive soundscape, text and artifacts, the exhibition will document the Hadza tribe of Tanzania. Some of the last remaining hunter-gatherers on the planet, the lifestyle of the Hadza tribe has seen little change in 10,000 years despite losing 90% of their land. Yet they still live sustainably in the savannahs and grasslands, in societies with equality for all regardless of gender, age, or ability. What can this joyful, just and sustainable society teach us about how to live now? How can insight into our past, shared through the Hadza, help us reimagine our future?
Please join us in what promises to be a fascinating exploration of the Hadza people, their unique language and egalitarian hunter-gatherer societies! All print and book proceeds will benefit the Dorobo Fund and helping the Hadza people secure land rights.
