Admission to the Department of Art & Design is a two-part application process. Students must submit:
a digital portfolio for the Department Review Process (see step #2 here)
the Common Application to the University
Deadline to apply is January 15.
Once a student is accepted to the Department and the University he/she is admitted as a BA Art Major.
Upon successful completion of the two-year core program, a student may choose to stay in the BA Art degree or apply to the BFA in Fine Arts (FA) or Visual Communications (VC).
Application to the Fine Arts or Visual Communication program requires a portfolio review and completion of the two-year core credit requirements or approved equivalents from another program. FA and VC majors are required to receive a grade of C- or better in all art courses to continue in the degree path.
FINANCIAL AID & THE CALLOWAY SCHOLARSHIP
All art applicants offered acceptance to the Department at the University are considered for specific art scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $6,000 per year. The criteria for the Calloway Scholarship funds are:
Academic merit, as determined by the various aspects of the admissions process with more than half of the accepted art majors qualifying for academic merit.
Artistic talent, which is determined by the ranking from the Department Portfolio Review Committee
Financial need, as determined by the FAFSA process
All undergraduate financial aid and scholarship programs are managed and decided by the Office of Student Financial Services.
