Program Description
BodyText1
The BA encourages an
interdisciplinary approach with many students earning a minor or second major
from departments across the college and university.
The BA in Art is a 52-credit
degree program. The BA provides students with the same core experience as a BFA and the following benefits:
- An opportunity to develop a highly personal and marketable portfolio that incorporates art and design with work from other disciplines.
- Participation in socially engaged art practices, technology or performance based work, and artworks premised on academic research.
- Access to the resources available at a university. Many students pursue minors in integrated Design, Advertising and Game Studies.
- A global perspective through additional language requirements.
Advising and Review
BodyText2
Upon successful completion of the two-year core credit
requirements, students in all undergraduate degree programs are assessed through
a portfolio review advising session with the art and design faculty. These reviews are usually conducted in the spring of sophomore year. At that time, a BA major has the option to apply for the BFA in Fine Arts (FA) and/or BFA in Visual Communications (VC). Admission into these programs is competitive.
